"My friend Kris recently celebrated his birthday, and we made sure we kicked the day off the right way with the hallowed Black Watch!
Keep up the good work - even though our local suppler id closing we will travel the globe hunting down the precious, Gollum-style!"

Andrew Webb, Channel4 Food Map
Andrew spent a lovely day here, making and consuming his own Black Watch, sharing his enthusiasm and all in all giving us a good dollop of confidence, here is an extract from his post:
"it was the name that won me over: Black Watch. That and the fact it stood out as the bad boy of the Scotch egg versions on offer... I bought one, froze on the spot at the first mouthful, and went back and bought another after I'd finished the first. That was nearly two years ago at he Abergavenny Food Festival and the dealer of this legal pork high was the Handmade Scotch egg Company. Like Stanley seeking livingstone I wanted to visit the creator of those eggs..."
That was back in 2008, Andrew has finished his map and is currently working on a book, keeping his enthusiasm alive through occasional visits to the Teme Valley Market.

Welcome

Followers of the Handmade Scotch Egg Co will know that over the years the BLACK WATCH has become what could be described as our signature recipe, so we have decided to pay him (don't know why we think of this one as a him, maybe you'll have an opinion...) the respect he deserves and give him a home of his own, so welcome to the black watch blog
We will give you feed back on how he is doing in the Scotch egg league, currently he's held off the top by the good old Classic Mac, vying for second place with the Scrumpy.... so if you feel he should be at the top pass the word around and we'll see what happens!

As if to confirm your views the Black Watch picked up a prestigious Great Taste GOLD Award in 2009. The enthusiasm for Black Pudding never ceases to amaze us, often we come back feeling we should have just taken the one variety, much easier to choose!
